Toddler Teeth Tips

 In News

Caring for your child’s dental health is an important job! You love to see your child smile, so investing the time to keep it healthy is a no-brainer. A child should ideally start visiting a dentist when their first teeth appear in their mouth. Baby teeth usually start to grow at 6 months old and continue until the age of 3 years old, reaching a total of 20 teeth. If a child’s gums are tender due to tooth eruption, you can soothe them by rubbing a finger on their gums, a cool spoon or a frozen teething ring. Pain medications or gels can also be another alternative.

To brush your toddler’s teeth:
Use a rice grain size amount of toothpaste (toothpaste with fluoride for toddlers 2 years and older).
Use a toothbrush with soft bristles
Brush inside surfaces of teeth first then clean outside surfaces
During your child’s first visit to the dentist, our hygienist will be happy to show you the ideal brushing technique, as well as some tips and tricks.
If your child needs a dental appointment, bring them in to see our friendly team in at Centre Dentaire Saint-Lambert!
